Are You Bearing Fruit?
“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.
“Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
John 15:1-2
“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
“If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
John 15:5-6
Everyone who becomes a Christian becomes a part of that Vine, which is Christ. And from the above verses we can see that we must bear fruit. If we do not bear fruit we will be cut off from Christ - from the vine - and be gathered up in that last day and thrown into the fire.
It is extremely important to not remain idle as a Christian. We must strive to bear fruit - we must strive to grow!
Becoming a Christian is not the end, but the beginning of our journey. We must make sure that we strive to be stronger and better Christians. We need to read our bibles, study from God’s word, and work on producing spiritual fruits.
All Christians must produce spiritual fruits and we can look at a couple verses to see what these fruits of the Spirit are.
But the fruit of the of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23.
But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1:5-8.
These qualities that are listed in Galatians 5 and 2 Peter 1 are qualities that Christians must have in order to be fruitful. These characteristics will prevent us from being unfruitful, but we must abound in them. In order to be fruitful and remain on that Blessed Vine we must put an effort into having these qualities in abundance! A Christian needs to be fruitful. Are you bearing fruit?
