God Watches Over Us
God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1
What a loving Father we have. He is always there for His children. He watches over us and is constantly ready and willing to help us. He is the Christian’s refuge and strength. We can go to God when we are feeling weakened or tired; when we are troubled or persecuted.
Like a young child, afraid of a thunderstorm, jumping into his parent’s arms and holding them tight, the Christian can run to God and hold Him dear, seeking refuge in His word. When we grow closer to God we are provided with greater strength and are better able to see how God helps us and blesses us every single day.
He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength. Isaiah 40:29
God is ready to grant us the strength to overcome our trials and temptations. He has provided all of the “workout equipment’ that we need to strengthen our minds and tone our spiritual muscles, within the Bible.
But whoever listens to me will dwell safely,
And will be secure, without fear of evil.” Proverbs 1:33
To access the strength that God offers us - to grow closer to God and “jump into His arms” - to receive any and all of the rich spiritual blessings we need to actually listen to God. We need to open His word, search and study the Scriptures, and be obedient to God. If we listen to God and obey Him then we have that security and safety that only God can provide - eternal safety!
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:33-34
We need to have God as our top priority. With spiritual things as our highest aims and goals we don’t need to worry about the future. We don’t need to worry about the physical things because God looks after His children and will provide for them. God watches over us!
