Submit to the Lord
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. James 4:7
Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? Hebrews 12:9
Dictionary.com defines “submit” as:
“to yield oneself to the power or authority of another: to submit to a conqueror.”
and
“to defer to another's judgment, opinion, decision, etc.: I submit to your superior judgment.”
Christians ought to be fully submitting their lives to the Lord - yielding our lives to Him - offering up our will and obedience to His power and authority. No longer do we want to be selfish and seeking after our own personal gains, but being selfless, pursuing the hope that we have in Christ by being obedient to our great God and heavenly Father.
As our moral standard - our compass and spiritual guidebook - we use the Scriptures for our life’s greatest decision making. We now look to God for our answers and authority. We recognize that we have an eternal Judge and must give an answer in the last day when we stand before the judgement seat of God (Matthew 12:36; 1 Corinthians 4:5; Romans 14:10).
Let us always remember that we owe everything to the Lord. He is deserving of our praise, respect, and obedience. Each and every day we should be humble to the Lord and working to obey Him and please Him. We are to submit to God’s superior judgement and will. Let us always submit to the Lord!
