Jesus’ Healings Comparison

I was rushed towards the end of last weeks sermon and so we did not end up spending much time looking (and comparing) Jesus’ healings with regards to resurrections and casting out demons.

Below are the verses that I briefly mentioned towards the end of the lesson on Sunday, as well as some brief thoughts comparing the five points we were looking at with each miraculous healing: speaking, touching, Jesus physical presence, warning against telling others, and displays of faith.

Resurrections

Mark 5:21-24, 35-43 – Ruler's Daughter revived: spoke, touch, present, warned, faith

Luke 7:11-17 – Widow's son raised up: spoke, touch (coffin), present, no warning, no faith mentioned

John 11:28-44 – Lazarus raised from the dead: spoke, no touch, present, no warning, faith that Jesus had great power; possible reason why Jesus would sometimes warn others not to speak: read v.45-47 – some witnesses told the Pharisees who began to conspire

 Casting out Demons

Mark 1:23-28 – unclean spirit cast out: spoke, no touch, present, no warning, no demonstration of faith

Mark 5:1-20 – demon-possessed man healed: spoke, no touch, present, no warning (told to tell others), no demonstration of faith by man, but demons believed

Mark 7:24-30 – unclean spirit removed from daughter: spoke, no touch, not present, no warning, faith (Matt. 15:28)
