Our Attitude: To God
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
A good understanding have all those who do His commandments.
His praise endures forever.
Psalm 111:10
Our attitude towards God needs to be one of fear and respect. The “beginning of wisdom” is for us to show Him reverence and to praise Him. We need to recognize His greatness and be submissive to Him.
And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment.
Mark 12:30
While we fear and respect God and while we are submissive, we are also to be loving. There should be a deep intense love burning within us - a love that burns for the Lord and is directed towards Him.
God rains so much love down upon us and we ought to return love to God as well. It should swell up within us and fill us up; and with that love we should have a strong whole dedication to the Lord. With all of our mind, strength, and spirit we should love the Lord. With every ounce of our being we should be committed to Him.
“If you love Me, keep My commandments.
John 14:15
If we indeed do have a loving attitude towards God, then we will indeed be submissive. Loving children will be obedient. Followers of Christ will humbly do God’s will, carrying out the commandments we find in the Scriptures.
Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.
Hebrews 13:15
Being active, obedient, loving, respectful children, we will offer God praise continually. There should always be a desire to serve God and we should always be ready to worship Him. Believing that God is really deserving of praise and acting upon that belief, we should have the proper attitude towards God.
