No Other Name
If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well, let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:9-12
Jesus Christ: how great and wondrous is His name. And there is no other name like it. There was, is, nor ever will be such a man as the Man, Christ Jesus. He alone was a worthy sacrifice for the vastness of our sins. He alone was able to carry out God, the Father’s, plan. He alone is the only begotten Son of God.
Jesus is unique. He came to this earth and was both God and Man. He walked among us and learned what it is like to be a human being. He experienced what it is like to be vulnerable and lowly, able to feel pain and to suffer, even tasting death (Hebrews 2:9).
And yet, while He suffered as a human and felt pain like we do, He never faltered nor sinned. He indeed was perfect.
For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Hebrews 4:15
For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:
“Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth”;
who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously; who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. 1 Peter 2:21-24
Christ lived a perfect life on this earth and is a perfect example for us. Because of His suffering and sacrifice we, who were lost, can be healed.
There is no other like Jesus, nor is there any name like His. There is no other name in the universe or “under heaven” that we can be saved by. No other person can wash away our sins. It is only in the name of Jesus Christ that we can be saved. It is only with His sacrifice that we can have forgiveness of sins. It is only Jesus’ blood that can wash away our sins (Matthew 26:28; Ephesians 1:7).
